After a revolutionary trend set by TikTok’s short video format and followed by major social media clones, LinkedIn has now announced a new short-form video feed, akin to the ones seen in popular apps like Instagram and YouTube.

Initially brought to light by Austin Null, a strategy director at McKinney, the new feature resides within LinkedIn’s navigation bar under a designated “Video” tab. Upon tapping the button, users are greeted with a vertical feed of brief videos, allowing swift interaction through likes, comments, and shares. Distinct from other platforms, LinkedIn’s focus remains steadfastly professional. While the content encompasses a broad spectrum of careers and industry insights, its purpose is clear: to enhance engagement and facilitate discovery with the LinkedIn ecosystem.

According to Microsoft-owned LinkedIn, the surge in demand for video content among users prompted the exploration of this new avenue for discovering relevant professional insights. Despite its current limited availability due to being in the early testing phase, the feature holds promise for both creators and viewers.

As TikTok has become a hub for advice and career-related content, LinkedIn’s foray into short-form video provides creators with an additional platform to reach their audience. Although potential monetization remains on the horizon, some users may express reservations about the influx of short-form video feeds across various platforms.
